Build An Online Presence You Can Be Proud Of

Your-Online-PresenceIn yesterday’s post I mention that one of the basics of SEO is building up an online presence.  Then I proceeded to talk about it for all of 3 sentences.  I think we can all agree that it deserves more than that.

The reason having an online presence is so important is because if you don’t have one you are missing out on a lot of potential customers.  Truthfully, Internet marketing (website, Facebook, Twitter etc.) is no longer an option, it’s a requirement.  Online marketing is a multi-billion dollar business that helps just about every revenue stream that takes advantage of it.  Keep in mind, if you’re not taking advantage of it, your competitors are.

So how far do you need to go?  The least amount of online work you can do is a website.  Allowing potential consumers to learn about you and your services without even walking into your store or office provides immense marketing value.

If you have the website, and it’s the very least you’re going to do, then do it right.  Having a professional looking website will strengthen your credibility and branding.  Additionally, having a company website allows you to stay open past 9pm.  Those insomniacs who are surfing the web all night?  Now you have the potential to capture some of them.  Unless you’re open 24/7, how else could you have that kind of power?

Once you have your website perfect, it’s time to think about the rest of your online presence.  There are so many avenues you can go down:

–       Facebook

–       Twitter

–       LinkedIn

–       Newsletters

–       Press Releases

–       Blog

What is best for your business is probably a combination of those above.  LinkedIn doesn’t make sense for everyone.  It’s more of a networking tool than a sales tool.  However, all your other options are amazing marketing devices.

Get on Facebook.  Use it in order to announce new products, same with Twitter.  Send out newsletters and press releases to remind your customers you exist.  If you can deliver a monthly newsletter to the inboxes of your customers with some sort of pertinent information, you remind them you exist.  They’re more likely to think of you and to purchase from you or hire you.

I go back to blogging again and again, but it really is an amazing way to stay in the forefront of people’s minds, get your website found faster by Google, and to create an online presence in the fastest way possible.

Anyway you slice the cake, you need to be online.  Website is essential, blogging is smart, pick one or two others from the list above and get to work.  While building your online presence may seem overwhelming, don’t let it be.  Just as you’d take on any other project, start with a plan and that plan should start with your company’s website.  Once you’ve mastered that trying your hand at blogging and other social media tools.  Take it one step at a time and work at your pace.  As always, reach out to me if you need any help!
